Project Assistant position available in Avian Bioacoustics and Behavioural Ecology

 

A project assistant position is available at the Behavioural Ecology Lab led by Dr. Manjari Jain at IISER, Mohali. Last Date for Application is June 30th 2017

 

Duration: 1 year, extendable on satisfactory performance. 3 months ‘probation on joining.

Funding Agency: Department of Science and Technology

Salary: Consolidated salary of INR 20,000/- per month for the tenure of the project.

Medical Benefits: According to institute policies.

 

Eligibility: M.Sc./B. Tech./M. Tech, in any discipline of Science or Engineering. Candidates with experience in behavioural ecology, field ecology, mist-netting, bioacoustics will be preferred. Programing skill in C / C++ / MATLAB / R is desirable but not mandatory.

The project is mostly fieldwork-oriented and may involve travel to remote locations including forests. The work is physically demanding and candidate must be physically fit. Conditions in the field can be harsh and facilities available at field station may be limited at times. Thus, it is critical that the candidate is highly motivated and passionate about field-based research. Another part of the project will involve bird song analysis so candidates with previous experience in bioacoustics will be preferred.
